UFC 320 Ankalaev vs. Pereira 2 PPV Pay Per View 4th October 2025 Preview:

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight rivals Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira are set to run it back TONIGHT (Saturday, October 4, 2025) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, headlining UFC 320.

It’s a testament to Magomed Ankalaev’s skill that he took a long, winding path to the top and still enters his first title defense at just 33 years old. Unbeaten since 2018, Ankalaev has the potential to become the first truly dominant 205-pound champion since Jon Jones — but before that, he must finish his story with “Poatan” Alex Pereira. For the hard-hitting Brazilian, this rematch is all about redemption. After emerging as one of MMA’s biggest active stars in 2024, Pereira looks to prove their first encounter was an exception, not the rule, and reclaim his momentum with an explosive performance.

Ankalaev, a highly decorated Combat Sambo fighter, has evolved into a dangerous striker. Early in his career, he was known for his takedowns and relentless ground-and-pound, but in recent years, he’s preferred to use his sharp boxing and devastating left kicks from the southpaw stance. In their first meeting, Ankalaev landed the cleaner punches but struggled at times against Pereira’s elite kicking game. Heading into the rematch, Ankalaev will need to better anticipate those kicks, improve his block-and-counter strategy, and find ways to maintain consistent pressure.

Wrestling could once again play a key role. Ankalaev found little success taking Pereira down in their first fight, often getting stuck in upper-body clinches where Pereira’s strength was overwhelming. This time, if Ankalaev attacks below the waist, chains his takedown attempts together, and works to off-balance the Brazilian, he could find far more success on the mat. Meanwhile, Alex Pereira remains one of the most feared knockout artists in UFC history. Every strike he throws — from his crushing left hook to his punishing low kicks — carries fight-ending power. However, in their previous bout, he was stifled by Ankalaev’s tight defense and forward pressure. To change the narrative, Pereira must find his rhythm early and reestablish his jab.

A major issue for Pereira last time was hand fighting, a natural challenge in orthodox vs. southpaw matchups. Ankalaev repeatedly tied up Pereira’s lead hand, preventing him from using his jab effectively. When Pereira tried to power forward instead, he walked into Ankalaev’s counters. To turn things around, Pereira needs to punch off the hand fight — tapping down Ankalaev’s lead hand and firing straight punches down the middle. Mixing feints to bait counters, then punishing with his signature left hook, could be a winning adjustment. Integrating his kicks after hand exchanges may also help him break Ankalaev’s rhythm. Though Pereira is famous for his “touch of death,” Ankalaev is equally dangerous and far more composed defensively. A more aggressive Ankalaev could hurt Pereira early and force him back into a defensive shell, much like their first encounter. If Ankalaev also leans heavier into his wrestling this time, it could completely disrupt Pereira’s striking flow.

Ultimately, it feels like Pereira must find a knockout to win this fight. Against a defensively sound, durable opponent still in his prime, that’s not impossible — but it’s a tall order. Expect a tense, tactical war where both men have fight-ending power, but Ankalaev holds the edge in patience, precision, and versatility.
